# Getting Started with Doozy

> Create your account, connect Slack, and set up your first activity.

Getting started is quick. When you go to [doozy.live/app](https://doozy.live/app), the
**Get started with Doozy** screen gives you two ways to sign up - we recommend adding
Doozy to Slack as you go.

***

## 1. Sign up

### Add to Slack *(recommended)*

The fastest way in - this installs Doozy into your Slack workspace and creates your
account in one step, in about 60 seconds.

1. On the sign-up screen, click **Add to Slack**
2. Sign into your Slack workspace and click **Allow** to grant permissions
3. Finish a couple of setup details - you're in, with Slack already connected

### Or start without Slack

You don't need Slack connected to get full use of the dashboard. Sign up with
**Continue with Google** or **Continue with email**, and you can explore everything -
build quizzes, surveys, tracks, and more, try the AI builder, and get your activities
ready to go.

This is a great option if you'd like to see the value of Doozy for yourself before
asking for it to be installed in your Slack workspace. When you're ready, connect Slack
from **Settings → Integrations** → **Connect Slack**.

<Note>Slack must be connected before Doozy can deliver anything to your team - so connect it before scheduling your first activity.</Note>

### If app installation is restricted

Some Slack workspaces require a workspace admin to approve new apps before they can be
installed. If yours does, clicking **Add to Slack** (or **Connect Slack**) will prompt
you to **request approval** rather than installing straight away.

1. Submit the request - your Slack workspace admin is notified
2. Once they approve Doozy, return to Doozy and complete the connection

If you have Slack admin access yourself, you can approve and install in one step.

<Info>We only request the [permissions necessary](/getting-started/permissions) to support our Slack functionality - sharing that list with your admin can help speed up approval.</Info>

## 2. Create your first activity

Everything is created from the dashboard. Pick a section from the menu -
**Quizzes**, **Surveys**, **Introductions**, **Celebrations**, and more - then
build and schedule your activity. See [The Doozy Dashboard](/getting-started/the-doozy-dashboard)
for a tour, and [The Slack App](/getting-started/the-slack-app) for how the dashboard
and Slack work together.

<Tip>Already have a Doozy account? Just sign in at [doozy.live/app](https://doozy.live/app).</Tip>

## ❓ Troubleshooting

| Issue | Solution |
| -------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Can't connect Slack** | Make sure you have Slack admin permissions |
| **Doozy not appearing in Slack** | Try refreshing Slack or searching "Doozy" in apps |
| **Permission errors** | Check that your Slack workspace allows third-party apps |
| **Already installed error** | Doozy may already be connected by someone else - only one installation per Slack workspace is allowed. Search "Doozy" in Slack to find it. |
