# Slack permissions

> Understand what permissions Doozy requests and how it uses those permissions.

### Content and info about channels & conversations

| Permission                                                                      | Why we need it                                                                                                       |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| View basic information about public channels in a workspace                     | To allow us to get a list of members in public channels who are participating in Doozy Roulette and Celebrations.    |
| View basic information about group direct messages that Doozy has been added to | So we can respond to group conversations that have been responded to in Doozy Roulette and individual introductions. |

### Content and info about your workspace

| Permission                                                                 | Why we need it                                                                                                          |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| View the name, email domain, and icon for workspaces Doozy is connected to | So we can pre-populate new Doozy team accounts with their existing Slack team name and logo.                            |
| View people in your workspace                                              | To be able to get a list of all users in a Slack workspace so that they can be added to your Doozy team.                |
| View the email addresses of people in your workspace                       | To be able to link existing users' Slack and HRIS accounts and provide notifications and an accurate "What's On" board. |

### Perform actions in channels & conversations

| Permission                                                                     | Why we need it                                                                                                    |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| View messages that directly mention @Doozy in conversations that the app is in | To respond to mentions of Doozy in any channel with information on how Doozy works.                               |
| Send messages as @Doozy                                                        | So Doozy can post celebrations, introductions, icebreakers and trivia and respond to mentions and slash commands. |
| Send messages to channels where @Doozy isn't a member                          | So Doozy can post scheduled activities and respond to mentions and slash commands.                                |
| Start group direct messages with people                                        | So we can create conversations between users who are participating in Doozy Roulette.                             |

| Add shortcuts and/or slash commands that people can use | To allow users to launch rooms and activities in Doozy using shortcuts and slash commands. |
