# The Doozy Slack App

> What the Slack app and the Doozy dashboard each do, and how they work together.

Doozy has two parts that work together:

* **The [Doozy dashboard](/getting-started/the-doozy-dashboard)** - the web app at
  [doozy.live/app](https://doozy.live/app), where admins, managers, and creators
  **build, schedule, and manage** activities.
* **The Doozy Slack app** - where your whole team **takes part**: they receive
  activities, answer them, and connect with each other, all without leaving Slack.

***

## What the team does in Slack

The Doozy Slack app is the member side of Doozy. In Slack, your team:

* Receives and answers **quizzes, polls, and surveys**
* Plays **daily trivia and icebreakers**
* Gets **track** messages and steps for onboarding and training
* Sees **birthday and anniversary celebrations** - and signs cards for teammates
* Sees **time off announcements**
* Gets matched for **introductions** and schedules the meeting
* Sends and receives **shoutouts**

Each person also has a **Doozy home** in Slack - the app's Home tab - showing their
to-dos, the tracks they're enrolled in, and upcoming celebrations.

### Slack shortcuts

A few things can be started straight from Slack:

| Command           | What it does                       |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------- |
| `/doozy poll`     | Fire off a quick poll in a channel |
| `/doozy shoutout` | Recognize a teammate               |
| `/doozy social`   | Spin up a video room               |

## How the two work together

<Steps>
  <Step title="Build in the dashboard">

    [doozy.live/app](https://doozy.live/app).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Doozy delivers in Slack">
    The activity is posted to the channels or people you chose, at the time you set.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Your team responds in Slack">
    Members answer, play, or take part right where they already work.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Results flow back to the dashboard">
    Participation, scores, and feedback are all available back in the dashboard.
  </Step>

## Who uses what

| Role                               | Where they work                                                    |
| ---------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Admins, managers, and creators** | The **dashboard** - to build, schedule, manage, and review results |
| **Everyone on the team** | The **Slack app** - to receive and take part in activities |

Anyone can sign into the dashboard, but day-to-day the split is simple: admins build
on the web, and the team takes part in Slack.

## Getting connected

The Slack app is connected once per workspace. If it isn't set up yet, see
[Getting Started with Doozy](/getting-started/how-to-add-doozy-to-slack).
