# Step: Introductions

> Automatically introduce users to team members with 1:1 conversations and meeting scheduling.

The **Introductions** step creates 1:1 Slack conversations between the track participant and people they should meet. Each introduction includes meeting scheduling buttons and optional reminders. Perfect for onboarding, team building, and cross-functional networking.

## ⚙️ Configuration

### Introduction Target

Choose who the user should be introduced to. Each person gets a separate 1:1 DM with the user.

| Destination | Description |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **Manager** | Introduce to the user's direct manager |
| **Specific People** | Handpick individual users |
| **Slack Channel Members** | All members of a channel |
| **Groups** | Members of organizational groups |
| **Mentor** | Assigned mentor (requires mentor step earlier) |

**Max matches**: Limit how many people from a channel/group to introduce to (max 10).

<Tip>Even with large channels, introductions are capped at 10 people to keep it manageable.</Tip>

### Introduction Message

Write the message both parties see when introduced. Supports rich text and placeholders (`{{user}}`, `{{manager}}`, `{{mentor}}`).

## ⏰ Schedule Settings

| Setting | Options |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------- |
| **Delivery Time** | Immediate (blank) or scheduled time |
| **Frequency** | All at once, Daily, Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly |

<Tip>Stagger introductions over time to avoid overwhelming new hires with 20 DMs on day 1.</Tip>

## 🤝 Meeting Settings

| Setting | Description |
| --------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Duration** | Default meeting length (15, 30, 45, 60 min) |
| **Meeting Locations** | Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Doozy, In Person, Other |
| **Reminders** | None, 1 reminder, or 2 reminders if no meeting scheduled |

<Tip>Offer 3-4 platform options for flexibility. Reserve 2 reminders for critical introductions only.</Tip>

## ⭐ Best Practices

1. **Start small**: Manager first, then team, then broader org
2. **Stagger with delays**: Space intro waves across weeks
3. **Be selective**: 5-10 meaningful intros beat 50 superficial ones
4. **Clear next steps**: "Schedule 30 min this week" beats "connect sometime"
5. **Match reminders to importance**: 2 for manager, 1 for team, 0 for optional

<Tip>See [Track Examples](/tracks/track-examples) for complete onboarding tracks using introductions.</Tip>
