# Set Up Trivia & Icebreakers

> Start daily trivia or icebreakers in your Slack channel to get your team chatting.

Get your team engaged with daily trivia questions or fun icebreaker prompts. Set up takes just a minute!

## 🚀 Getting Started

1. Go to [doozy.live/app](https://doozy.live/app) and open **Icebreakers**
2. Create a new **trivia** or **icebreaker** activity
3. Pick your channel, content, time, and frequency
4. Save and you're done!

<Tip>To post in a private channel, first invite Doozy by typing `/invite @doozy` in that channel.</Tip>

## ⚙️ Configuration

Both trivia and icebreaker activities share these settings:

| Setting      | Description                                                                                                                                                                                                    |
| ------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Content**  | Use Doozy's curated question bank, or pick your own - a [custom quiz](/quizzes/how-to-create-a-quiz) for trivia, or a [custom icebreaker](/trivia-and-icebreakers/how-to-create-an-icebreaker) for icebreakers |
| **Send to**  | Where it posts - a channel, channel members, individuals, or groups                                                                                                                                            |
| **Schedule** | The days of the week and time of day it posts                                                                                                                                                                  |

### Trivia-only settings

Trivia activities have an extra **Configure** step:

| Setting           | Options                                             |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| **Delivery**      | One question per day, or a full round per day       |
| **Scoring**       | 1 point per correct, or points + speed bonus        |
| **Leaderboard**   | Show a leaderboard to rank players                  |
| **Intro message** | An optional message posted before the trivia starts |
| **Expiry**        | Optionally close answering after a set time         |

## 📊 Scoring (Trivia)

With **points + speed bonus** scoring:

| Component                   | Points     |
| --------------------------- | ---------- |
| **Correct answer**          | 100 points |
| **Speed bonus (1st place)** | +20 points |
| **Speed bonus (2nd place)** | +19 points |
| **Speed bonus (3rd place)** | +18 points |
| **...down to 20th place**   | +1 point   |

The first 20 people to answer correctly earn bonus points based on how fast they responded.

## 🧊 Icebreakers vs Trivia

| Type             | What It Does                                            |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Daily Trivia** | Multiple-choice questions with scoring and leaderboards |
| **Icebreakers**  | Fun prompts to spark conversation (no scoring)          |

### Icebreaker Examples

* "What food best describes where you were born?"
* "Share the most ridiculous photo of your pet!"
* "What's your go-to comfort movie?"

## 🛠️ Managing Trivia & Icebreakers

To update, pause, or cancel:

1. Go to [doozy.live/app](https://doozy.live/app) and open **Icebreakers**
2. Find your trivia or icebreaker activity
3. Use its actions menu (**⋮**) to edit, pause, or cancel it
