Launch a doozy social
How to start a social, what can be done within one and how you can invite teammates.
Start a social
In Slack, enter the command ‘/doozy’ to bring up the option of launching a doozy social.
You’ll be launched into a social in a new browser window, with the option to join with or without video.
🖥️ Alternatively, you can start from our web app, doozy.live, and sign into your account to get started. When you are logged in, visit the dashboard and select ‘Start a social’.
Games, Quizzes and Icebreakers
Choose from the menu at the bottom of the screen to start playing games, quizzes or icebreakers.
Chat
Live chat is baked right into Doozy, simply select ‘Chat’ from the bottom menu to open it.
Invite teammates to a social
To invite people to join a social you’re in, go to ‘People’ in the bottom menu, then choose ‘Invite’.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting video calls
Most common problems with video calls can be solved in a couple of steps. For the best video call experience, we highly recommend you do the following before a call:

Test your camera and mic

Use an updated browser, preferably Chrome
-
Check that your browser has access to your camera and/or mic
-
Connect to a stable network, preferably through an ethernet cable, especially if you are using an older device
-
Use headphones or a headset to prevent background noise and audio feedback
The following steps solve most issues with video meetings:

Reload your browser
-
Try using an Incognito window, or Private mode
-
Quit and reopen your browser. (On a Mac, hold Command (or Cmd) ⌘ + Q for a few seconds to quit Chrome)

Make sure other apps aren’t using your camera/mic (for example, another video or conferencing product)
If those steps don’t work:
-
Try another browser (we suggest Chrome).
-
Reboot your computer.
-
These steps also can help:
-
Close down background apps that might be using Internet, like Dropbox
-
Try another computer or mobile device
-
Try a different network
-
Are you using an ad blocker, or do you have any browser extensions installed?
These might block access to your camera. Try opening an Incognito window.
Can others not hear you?
Your browser may not be set to the correct mic settings.
Can you not hear others?
Check that your audio is routed to the correct speaker or headphones.
Are you using Windows?
Check for system updates.
Packet loss is different from your speed test or download speed. Packet loss reflects UDP data, which is the data transmitted when you stream live media. When streaming live media, network issues often relate to an OS-level root cause. That’s why, if you’re having issues, rebooting often is a smart thing to try.
Video calls need a good connection. Because a video call streams live media, having a fast internet connection is not enough. It’s not unusual for a caller to have a great network, but experience packet loss on a call. Network congestion, firewall barriers, and/or old or affected hardware (like a router that needs rebooting) can play a role.
If you’re seeing packet loss, during your call try:

Rebooting your computer

Moving closer to your WiFi router
-
Connecting via Ethernet, or switching to a 5G network if possible
-
Limiting background tasks and close any applications that use up internet resources, like Dropbox
-
While it’s not ideal, try switching off the camera
Are you using a VPN?
Try turning off your VPN or contact your IT department.
Do you need to unblock your camera?
To unblock your camera/mic in Chrome, follow these steps:

Type ⌘ + , on a Mac, or navigate to the three dots at the top right of your browser to open up the settings menu

Navigate to Privacy and settings
-
Navigate to Permissions and click on the camera icon
-
Make sure the Ask before accessing toggle is toggled to the right
-
Refresh your browser

Camera/mic access
When you try and join a call, or click on your cam/mic buttons, do you see the unblock message above?
If so, this means that your camera/mic is blocked by (1) your browser or (2) Operating System. Learn how to fix this below!
Chrome users
To unblock your camera/mic follow these steps:

Select “Grant Access” as shown in the example above for instructions

Click the camera icon — in your browsers address bar, top right
-
Make sure that “Always allow” is selected
-
Click “done”
-
Refresh your browser
MacOS users — check System Preferences You can change the settings for all of your browsers from your Mac’s System Preferences. To do this, click on the Apple in the top left of your screen and select System Preferences. Click on the Security & Privacy section and then select ‘privacy’. Click on Camera and or Microphone in the list of options, and tick the box next to your browser to allow access.

Do you have a program that automatically opens at startup, which uses your camera?

We have reproduced an issue where one popular program, when auto-starting, does not close cleanly. It still claims access to the camera even after it’s closed.

Turn off the program automatically opening at startup. Now reboot.
For Windows Edge:

Click the lock icon next to the address bar on the left and select ‘site permissions’. Use the menu to allow permissions for your camera and microphone.

Run the official Google test:

In your URL address bar (top right) click on the camera icon when in a call.

Be sure that Always allow is selected

Click the triple dot Settings icon, upper right of your Chrome window

Click Site Settings > Camera (and then Mic)

Under both Camera and Mic, make sure that doozy.live is not on the BLOCK list

Save changes and rejoin the call
Firefox details

In a call, look at the address bar. Click the cam/mic icon there

Click the “x” to turn off blocking

Exit and rejoin the call. Click Allow when asked, as you rejoin

Safari details

When opened, select ‘safari’ at the top left of your screen

Select ‘preferences’ and go to ‘websites’.

Click ‘camera’ and/or ‘microphone’ on the left list to change and save your settings to allow access

Exit and rejoin the call. Click ‘allow’ when asked, as you rejoin

Make sure to check your macOS System Preferences
To do this, click on the Apple in the top left of your screen and select System Preferences. Click on the Security & Privacy section and then select ‘privacy’. Click on Camera and or Microphone n the list of options, and tick the box next to your browser to allow access.
macOS Mojave and later released a security setting that requires you to grant the operating system camera and microphone permissions, under System Preferences.
IMPORTANT: You must grant each browser camera/mic access.
Give camera and mic access

Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Camera.

Click the box next to the browser you’re using. It’ll quit and reopen your browser.

Do the same for Systems Preferences > Privacy > Microphone.
