The Join mentoring program step puts the person on the track into one of your mentoring programs, as a mentor or a mentee. It’s available on per-person tracks in workspaces with mentoring.

Configuration

Add them directly

The person joins the program when the step runs. If the program requires approval for the role, they’re added as a request for a program admin to approve. The step counts as an invitation, so it works for invite-only programs and skips the program’s filters.

Ask them first

Doozy sends them a Slack message inviting them to join, with a Become a mentor or Find a mentor button. They join when they select it, under the same rules as joining from the App Home. The step completes once the invite is sent. The invite expires after 14 days. After that, its button says the invite has expired. If the track runs the step for them again, they get a new invite. Either way, they’re asked to answer the program’s profile questions if they haven’t yet.

Cohorts

When a cohort starts the track, the person joins the program as part of that cohort. Mentees from a cohort are matched together once the cohort starts, and their mentorships end with the cohort.

When the step fails

The step fails, and the track moves on, if:
  • the program isn’t active (it’s still a draft, or was paused, archived or deleted), or mentoring was turned off
  • the person was declined by the program before
  • with Ask them first, the person isn’t connected to Slack or the invite couldn’t be sent
If the person is already in the program, the step completes without changing anything.
